“It is in playing and only in playing that the individual child or adult is able to be creative and to use the whole personality, and it is only in being creative that the individual discovers the self.” – Donald Woods Winnicott
Hi there! I’m an Art Psychotherapist based in London. I will help you find creative ways of working with your emotions, thoughts; inner conflicts, and explore the ways you relate to yourself and others. Art therapy is both a process and a journey. Art-making encourages growth, cultivates confidence and self-esteem, and helps with brain development. It enables clients to express themselves through a creative medium, and can greatly benefit those who struggle with verbal communication. I will support you in gaining insight into your behaviours, emotions and thoughts, and encourage you to explore how your unconscious and early experiences have shaped your life. Together, we will explore the symbolism in your artworks, and make connections to how it relates to your emotional self and your personal experiences.
“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” – Pablo Picasso
My approach is based on Psychodynamic psychotherapy, and contains elements of trauma-informed and person-centred art therapy, as well elements of compassion focused therapy. I also make use of other therapeutic tools such as psychoeducation, as well as play, and I tend to incorporate elements of mindfulness in my practice. I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental space, in which you can explore your creativity, your unconscious, your emotions and your Self. I will accommodate my practice to meet your needs, and together we will focus on what works best for you. I also offer talking therapy, my sessions are often a combination of art therapy and talking therapy.
