I’m a HCPC (Health and Care Professionals Council) registered Art Psychotherapist who works with children and adults.
I’m a full member of BAAT (the British Association of Art Therapists), and EFAT, (the European Federation of Art Therapists).
I have over 3 years of experience working as an Art Psychotherapist with children in schools, and I currently also work with adult clients. As an art therapist, I have worked in a number of settings, including the NHS, and both private and state schools (mainstream, Catholic schools and special schools, primary and secondary). I have experience of helping clients with a wide range of difficulties such as anxiety, depression, learning and developmental disabilities, trauma, and difficulties relating to others. My speciality is working with neurodivergent clients, helping them process their emotions and thoughts around relating to themselves and others, whilst whilst helping them reflect on their surrounding environments. Art therapy is especially beneficial to individuals who are neurodivergent, as it offers them sensory-friendly materials, and the opportunity to self-regulate and express themselves non-verbally. My practice is neurodiversity-affirming and LGBTQ+ affirming.
My practice is based on psychodynamic psychotherapy, trauma-informed, mindfulness and person-centered approaches. Psychodynamic psychotherapy informs a big part of my practice, so this means that I will encourage my clients to reflect on their current behaviour, feelings, relationships and experiences, helping them to think about how these relate to their past or their unconscious impulses and desires. I also focus on their interpersonal experiences and help them understand the patterns in their relationships. I help my clients to focus on feelings and thoughts that may relate to past trauma, ensuring that they feel safeqnd stable enough to express and explore these through engaging with the art material and creating artworks, making sure not to re-trigger them. More recently I have also been using some compassion-focused therapy methods in my practice, particularly to help individuals who are very critical of themselves. I offer my clients a non-judgmental, safe space, where they can engage with the art materials, helping them open up about their difficulties, in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. I make sure to explain to my clients the therapy structure prior to starting the sessions. I will often ask for the client to think of certain goals they want to achieve in therapy, and encourage them to make a note of these in their first session. I ensure that the therapy flows at a pace my clients feel comfortable with, checking in with them once in a while about their preferences and progress. It is important to let me know what feels comfortable.
I am a compassionate, patient and driven person.
I am fluent in three languages, english, greek and french. I’m currently located in London, UK, where I have been living for the past 6 years.
I’m looking forward to working with you.
